Letting Go of What We Cannot Hold
A gentle reflection on the emotional burden of control, and the quiet wisdom in accepting what is beyond our reach as we begin a new week.
There is a subtle tension that often weaves through our days—the desire to hold all threads together, to anticipate, to prevent, to ensure outcomes. Beneath this urge, there is often a quiet fear: that if we loosen our grip, something important will unravel. Yet, in the rush to manage every detail, we may find ourselves carrying an invisible weight that grows heavier with each attempt to control what lies beyond our reach.
It’s not easy to admit how little is truly ours to command. Circumstances shift, people respond in unpredictable ways, and life’s currents flow with a mind of their own. The more we try to orchestrate everything, the more tension accumulates—sometimes in our bodies, sometimes in the silent spaces of our minds. There can be relief in acknowledging this: much of what troubles us is simply not within our power to fix or prevent.
What remains, then, is a quieter realm—one where our choices, our actions, and the tone we set for ourselves are still ours. There is a calm that comes from focusing on these small, steady things. It’s not resignation, but a kind of respect for the boundaries between what belongs to us and what does not. In letting go of what we cannot hold, we may find the beginnings of a lighter heart and a clearer mind.
As this new week begins, you might notice where you are gripping too tightly, and gently ask yourself what truly needs your attention. Sometimes, the wisest thing is to release what was never ours to carry, and in doing so, discover the quiet freedom that remains.
if this doesn’t make sense to you, move on and be happy.
Peace and Goodness.
